Biography

When I was a child, I tried a lot of different sports like tennis, swimming, judo... The moment I wanted to start swimming for competition, I got to know the beautiful sport: rowing. In 2012 I did my first strokes in a rowing boat, the same year I was allowed to compete in a race for my club: KRBrugge. I had so much fun from the first moment that I never stopped it, I really found my new hobby!

At the end of the U15 category, I was not more than an avarage kid. Races were rowed over 1000m and my best ranking was 7th place, I never won any medal.

One year later I had to row in the U17 category, from now on all races were rowed over 2000m. My results were constantely progessing in a positive way, at my 15 year I became 4th in my category. At the age of 16, I was able to compete for the first time at the national time trials against all the juniors (U19), I became 7th overall. This result got me selected for the Youth Cup, the unofficial european championships for juniors. With this competition my international rowing career started. The most important results can be found here.

I went to school in "Sint-Lodewijkscollege Brugge" where I studied: science and math 6. I passed with nice results. When I was 18 I started at the University of Leuven for one year afterwards I switched to the university of Ghent. I am still studying for Physiotherapist. At the moment I am able to split up my years and I have the support by "sport vlaanderen" to combine both: studying and rowing at high level.

What started as hobby, is now more than a passion. It is a way of living.

What I have achieved until today wouldn't be possible without the support of KRBrugge, Vlaamse Roeiliga, SportVlaanderen, Begold etc.
